How do I change to good quality pictures when I view items over the Internet?

I made a change to the computer but can’t remember what it was that I did. The pictures don’t come out clear anymore.The change was recommended to help speed up my computer which was fine until now, now I want to view the pictures clear.
No I did not change the resolution, I thought it was something in the Internet Options, but I have tried everything (I think) whatever it was I did was to help the PC download pages faster. I can see the pictures, but the quality is really poor.

Did you change the resolution to a lower setting?
